Check out these cool 13th Floor Elevators handbills from the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco. In the Summer - Fall of 1966 the 'Elevators went out to San Francisco and showed the folk-rockin' and blues-rockin' local San Francisco bands what real, balls out, psychedelic ROCK music was.

Back then, as is still today, Promoters promoted gigs by producing posters, handbills and postcards. Posters were hung around town, handbills were handed out at other events where people were, postcards were mailed out to people on a mailing list. Of the three, handbills are the most rare as they were usually handed out on the street and people just threw them away or shoved it in their pocket. Additionally, handbills were usually printed on thin paper. Many times, the Printer recycled old magazine stock with one side blank. The top handbill had something called: I.D. Magazine on the back.

Esprit Decor took this Phoenix picture framing project and pressed them between two pieces of glass. This keeps the handbill nice and flat. They then put a pink, metal, frame around it. They look great and will not "bubble" now.
