Phoenix Picture Framing Project - Daily Flash & Country Joe: Avalon, 1966

Check out this sweet set of Avalon Ballroom posters by the Daily Flash and Country Joe and the Fish! The poster on the left sports the wrong appearance dates and the corrected version is on the right. The gorgeous framing is by Esprit Decor; my Phoenix picture framing connect! Check out the vid below!

It's a sweet double matting job of black and cream. This puts a black line around the pieces. My buddy Robert, at Esprit, helped me pick out the frame. He calls it a "Baroque"; I call it gorgeous. This piece will go right above my door. Sweet!

Country Joe and the Fish were one of the major San Francisco bands from the Sixties. They were really big during their time but (I think) had a style that didn't translate well past their immediate time period. That said, their EP: Bass Strings was one of the first psychedelic anythings recorded in the United States.

The Daily Flash were a group from the Pacific Northwest that played around San Francisco a lot. They played an interesting mix of Rock, Folk and Garage Psych. I have a bootleg of them where somebody is chanting the Hare Krishna and the band is playing some psych behind it. It's positively lysergic. Unbelievably, they Daily Flash have reformed and are gigging around the Pacific Northwest again.
